The cashew tree (Anacardium occidentale) is a tropical evergreen from the Anacardiaceae family (which also includes mango and pistachio), native to Brazil but now grown globally in warm climates. It's a large tree, sometimes reaching up to 14 meters tall, with edible, kidney-shaped seeds (cashew nuts) that hang from a pear-shaped, fleshy, edible "cashew apple".
